The Sacred Circle : Art honouring the sacred Feminine

Sacred Circle is my interpretation of a women’s circle, shaped through my connection with Goa’s wellness community where the ritual becomes a form of remembering.

It honours the soft strength of feminine energy, the wisdom of the earth, and the old practices that help us return to ourselves.

At the centre of the artwork is a shamanic drum, carrying the rhythm of the earth. Cacao appears as a symbol of heart-opening and gentle honesty. Beneath the women, roots move deep into the soil, speaking of ancestry, memory, land, and the unseen support that holds us.

As a sound healer practitioner who often hosts deeply meditative spaces for people, I have seen the power of the ancient wisdom flow through us.

The Shamanic Drum has been used in ceremony for thousands of years, even before organised religion. The rhythmic drumming creates a trance state.

In the modern world, we often live from the head.

Forgetting the heart.

Deep transformation happens when we acknowledge the heart and know that this life is meant to be felt.

Cacao as a symbol of the open heart

In many contemporary ceremonial spaces, cacao is held as a plant connected with the heart. I approach that symbolism with respect and care. For me, cacao in this painting does not make a claim or promise. It becomes a visual reminder of tenderness, honesty, and the courage it takes to feel.

Cacao also carries a quality of invocation.

It asks the circle to slow down. To taste. To listen inward.

To let the heart speak before the mind arranges everything into neat explanations.

What happens when we gather with intention?

We remember who we are, before the world told us who we need to become.
