Stepping into the Goa Collective Bazaar at Hilltop Anjuna feels like entering a world where creativity flows freely. I was met with vibrant colours, warm smiles, puffs of smoke and good music.
I recently had the chance to set up my own art stall here, and
it was an experience that deepened my connection to the local art scene and the vibrant community that gathers at this legendary spot.
Sharing my 2026 Art Calendar, along with stickers, canvas prints, and sketches, I found myself immersed in a space where artists, creators, and misfits come together to celebrate authentic expression.

The Unique Vibe of the Hilltop Friday Market
The Hilltop Friday Market in Anjuna is not just a marketplace; it’s a cultural hub where the spirit of Goa’s counterculture thrives.
Known for its roots in psytrance music and alternative lifestyles, Hilltop has long been a gathering place for those who seek something beyond the ordinary.
What I love most about this market is the diversity of creators. You find painters, sculptors, musicians, and visionaries, all sharing their work in a setting that encourages genuine connection.
For an artist like me, this space offers more than just a sales opportunity. It’s a chance to be part of a living, breathing culture that values creativity over commerce.
Sharing My Art and Connecting with Visitors
Bringing my 2026 Art Calendar, Indian Gods and Goddesses reimagined in modern-day Goa, was a way to share a piece of contemporary art. Each page tells a story, and watching visitors pause to take in the details was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.
No surprise, Shiva was the most popular.

People approached my stall with curiosity. Some connected with the ancient motifs, while others appreciated the modern style and colours.
These moments of interaction reminded me why I create: to spark thought, emotion, and conversation.
Lessons Learned and Growth as an Artist
Every pop-up event teaches me something new. At Hilltop, I learned how important it is to be present and open to the unexpected. My first stall here, so I had many small glitches. I'm working on small improvements to my display.
A collab with a T-shirt brand is in talks! They loved my Trident-themed work. That's now in process.
The experience reinforced my belief that art is a journey, not a destination. I’m still evolving, still exploring new themes and techniques. Sharing my work at the Hilltop Friday Market is one step in that ongoing process.
Why Every Traveller and Goa Artist Should Visit Hilltop
If you are a traveller seeking authentic experiences or a Goa artist looking for inspiration, the Hilltop Friday Market is a must-visit. It offers a rare chance to connect with a community that values creativity and individuality.
Here are some tips for making the most of your visit:
Arrive early to explore before the crowd builds and to chat with artists while they set up.
Bring cash as many stalls prefer it over digital payments.
Take your time to absorb the atmosphere and engage with creators.
Support local artists by purchasing original work or sharing their stories.
Stay open-minded to the diverse styles and expressions you will encounter.
The market is more than a shopping destination; it’s a place to feel inspired and to support the creative pulse of Anjuna.
